Vendor Registration, Sustainability & Regulatory Services

Intermax Consultancy helps businesses, manufacturers, contractors and project teams navigate the registrations, audits, product approvals and regulatory requirements needed to operate, supply and grow in Saudi Arabia and international markets.

From SMETA responsible-sourcing audits and Aramco supplier qualification to SASO, local content, ESG, green-building and SFDA medical-device services, we turn complex requirements into one structured and manageable journey.

SMETA 2-Pillar & 4-Pillar Audits

Responsible Workplaces. Transparent Supply Chains. Stronger Buyer Confidence.

SMETA—the Sedex Members’ Ethical Trade Audit—is a widely used social-audit methodology for assessing labour practices, workplace health and safety, environmental performance and business ethics at individual work sites.

SMETA audits are independently conducted by auditors from Sedex-approved Affiliate Audit Companies (AACs). Sedex owns and manages the methodology but does not directly conduct the audits. SMETA is an audit and continuous-improvement process rather than a certification or pass-or-fail scheme. Intermax helps organizations arrange the appropriate audit through an approved audit provider and coordinate the administrative journey from scope selection and account readiness to audit scheduling and corrective-action follow-up.

Choose the Right SMETA Audit Scope

SMETA 2-Pillar Audit

Labour Standards + Health & Safety

A focused assessment of working conditions and the systems used to manage employees and workplace safety. The audit may examine employment practices, wages, working hours, worker treatment, freedom of association, child and forced labour risks, discrimination, occupational health and safety, emergency arrangements, welfare facilities and related management controls.

Recommended for: organizations whose customers require a focused ethical-trade and workplace-safety assessment.

SMETA 4-Pillar Audit

Labour Standards + Health & Safety + Environment + Business Ethics

Includes the full Labour Standards and Health and Safety scope, together with a more comprehensive assessment of environmental management and business-ethics controls — environmental permits, resource use, waste, emissions, chemicals, pollution controls, anti-bribery systems, ethical conduct, grievance channels and corruption-related risks.

Recommended for: organizations that need a broader responsible-sourcing, sustainability and governance assessment for customers, brands or international supply chains.

The official SMETA structure treats Labour Standards and Health and Safety as the two core pillars; the four-pillar option adds Environment and Business Ethics.

What Happens During a SMETA Audit?

Document & Record Review

The auditor reviews policies, procedures, personnel files, payroll and working-hour records, safety records, permits, licences and other evidence applicable to the audit scope.

Management Interviews

Responsible managers explain how labour, safety, environmental and ethical-business requirements are implemented and monitored.

Workplace Inspection

The auditor examines production areas, offices, accommodation where applicable, welfare facilities, emergency arrangements and general workplace conditions.

Worker Interviews

Selected employees may be interviewed confidentially to help the auditor understand actual workplace practices and conditions.

Audit Findings

Any identified non-compliances are documented and discussed through the appropriate closing process.

Corrective Action Plan

The audit produces a report and Corrective Action Plan Report (CAPR) that identifies matters requiring corrective action and follow-up.

How Intermax Supports the Audit Journey

Sedex Account & Site Readiness

Guidance on the administrative information needed to establish or update the company and site profile before audit scheduling.

Audit-Scope Selection

Support in understanding whether the customer or buyer requires a 2-Pillar or 4-Pillar audit and whether any additional customer instructions apply.

Approved Auditor Coordination

Scheduling and engagement coordination through the applicable Sedex-approved Affiliate Audit Company.

Audit Administration

Support with document indexing, responsible-person coordination, site logistics and communication with the approved audit provider.

CAPR Follow-Up

Administrative tracking of corrective actions, responsible owners, target dates and supporting closure evidence after the audit.

What Your Organization Receives

A formal SMETA audit report, a Corrective Action Plan Report, documented findings and observations, evidence of the agreed audit scope and an audit record uploaded to the Sedex platform by the approved audit provider — shareable with connected customers to reduce repeated data requests. An active Sedex membership and site account are required.

Prepare for Your Next Customer or Supply-Chain Requirement

Whether a customer has requested a SMETA audit or your organization is strengthening its responsible-sourcing program, Intermax will help identify the appropriate scope and next administrative step.

SMETA is an audit methodology—not a certification. Neither Sedex membership nor a SMETA audit produces a Sedex certificate or pass/fail result.

Vendor Registration & Prequalification

Aramco Supplier Services

Intermax supports manufacturers, material suppliers, contractors and service providers with company-profile preparation, document-gap reviews, category selection, portal questionnaires, prequalification packages, clarification responses and supplier-profile updates. Aramco applies different registration and qualification routes depending on the supplier’s location and activity. Registration or qualification does not guarantee future business.

Aramco Vendor Registration

Prepare for Aramco’s Third Party Cybersecurity Standard requirements through classification guidance, cybersecurity-control gap assessment, evidence organization and coordination with an Aramco-authorized audit firm. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is SMETA a certification?

No. SMETA is a social-audit methodology. It produces an audit report and Corrective Action Plan Report rather than a Sedex certificate or a pass-or-fail decision.

What is the difference between SMETA 2-Pillar and 4-Pillar?

The 2-Pillar Audit covers Labour Standards and Health and Safety. The 4-Pillar Audit adds comprehensive Environment and Business Ethics assessments.

Does vendor registration guarantee tenders or contracts?

No. Registration and qualification provide an opportunity to be considered within a procurement ecosystem, but do not guarantee invitations, purchase orders or contracts. Aramco expressly states that supplier registration and qualification do not guarantee future business.

What is the difference between Aramco registration and 9COM qualification?

Aramco vendor registration creates and validates the supplier’s company profile. A 9COM identifies a commodity or class of materials and is used as part of the applicable material-supplier qualification process.

Does Intermax issue the certificates shown on this page?

Intermax provides consultancy, preparation and coordination. Certificates, licences, audit reports, marks and approvals are issued by the relevant authority, approved audit company, program operator, notified body or accredited certification body.

Can the same company documents be used for several vendor registrations?

A core supplier file can be reused, but every organization has different questionnaires, categories, declarations and supporting-evidence requirements. Intermax adapts the core file to the requirements of each portal.

Turn Complex Requirements into One Manageable Journey

Whether you need a SMETA audit, an Aramco or major-company vendor registration, a product approval, a sustainability program or an SFDA medical-device service, our team will identify the appropriate route and next step.
